EASY/MODERATE WALKING
The walk starts in the village and follows Malham beck where you cross via a bridge facing the cafe in the village and then Gordale beck, before passing through a lovely wooded area to Janet's Foss, which is a stunning waterfall which often people swim in ( very deep water ).
From the waterfall you continue up to the main road with a slight scramble over some rocks, be careful as when wet these are really slippy.
Turn right and follow the road, often there is a van parked up selling ice cream and drinks with some seats.
The path to Gordale scar in on your right just after the van, its a good level path to the scar. Some go direct up the scar but its always been too wet when we have visited, so we never chance it with it being hands on rock climbing to the top, it is very steep.
We retrace our steps back to the gate, then you will see another gate on your right that takes you up a grassy hill to begin the walk to the top of Malham cove, beware in wet weather these limestone rocks are dangerous, options to walk round them on grass area.
Stop and admire the views down to the village before the climb down approx 400 steps to the bottom of Malham cove.
You then follow a clear path directly back to the village, beware if you take dogs there is often cows in this area.
