EASY/MODERATE WALKING
A fun circular walk starting by the lay by, with a path leading from a gate to the right of the parking area,
Follow the path until you reach a junction and keep left, its a easy to follow path that soon turns into a road leading into Skyreholme village.
Follow the road through the village keeping the river on your right. You will see a gate on your left just before Parcevall hall which you will go through and follow until you reach Trollers gill.
You may see people rock climbing up the tall ravine which mine enjoyed watching, take care in this section as its very rocky.
Once through the gill you will follow the path up and over the hillside to join the original path at the beginning making it a circular walk.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT TROLLERS GILL
The gorge is named after the supposed existence of trolls who used to live there.
A survey conducted in the reign of Edward II of England listed it as being Gordale in Appletreewick. Speight suggests that this is of Danish influence from the word geir; a triangular piece of land that ends in a chasm.
Skyreholme Beck flows through the gorge, but for most of the year the stream bed is dry with the water flowing underground.
The Gill is also the location of an old lead and later fluorspar mine which was last worked in the 1960s
