ABOUT THE WALK
You can start this walk from Troutbeck but we decided to start higher up at the junction of Dubbs road where there is road parking, It was a longer walk but not as steep as Iif you had come from Troutbeck.
You follow the lane up Dubbs road, which is a stone path, this runs for approx 2.5 miles before you reach the hause between Sallows and Ill Bell ridge.
Here we turned right and followed the grass path to Sallows, there is no cairns or trig point on this walk but you will see the highest point on each summit.
The path is very faint and boggy in sections, best for a clear day, with the path being faint it would be easy too go off route in bad weather.
Once at Sour Howes you follow the path downhill with a couple of steep sections through rocks but it joins back onto Dubbs road.
