NATEBY- TERRAIN HOPPER WITH ACCESS THE DALES
This walk is another great one thanks to Access the Dales and it starts from Nateby Hub which is based at Rake Head Farm, where there is a TerrainHopper to borrow.

🥾2 different walks, one up on the fells and one along Podgill viaduct which we did.
We opted for the viaduct walk as the weather was not great, wet and cold, but we still had the best time. This hopper is absolutly amazing, It felt safe and comfortable going over uneven ground.
From the farm we turned right down the road to pick up the path along the viaduct. We used OS maps to locate this route.
The route now is straight forward. Follow the old disused railway track right along to Hartley, there is information boards along the way too.
Soon you will reach a small brick building, a former
platelayers’ hut which contains several information
panels detailing the history of the railway.
This is a great place to rest and have a look at how the railway use to be.
The viaduct is very impressive, the viewpoint is down some steps so my husband took the photo, shame its not accessible but its still nice to see on a photo.
Crossing over the viaduct, amazing views if you look over the top, as you can see from the photo, the path is great for trampers or normal wheelchairs, its flat and level throughout.
The walk comes to an end once you come to the gate, we decided to go a little further to have a look at the working quarry which is accessed via a steep road. Its a very quiet road and worth going a little further to view the quarry.
From here you return the same way.
