Scafell pike was our very first Wainwright 4 years ago as a charity challenge that my daughter wanted to do, we did a couple of smaller hills and walks beforehand but not as much as we should of.
We picked the hottest day of the year 35c with no clouds or shelter throughout the whole walk, to this day it was probably our hardest walk due to the heat making it less enjoyable, but reaching the summit felt amazing.
We took the direct path from Wasdale head, it is steep and rocky throughout the whole walk
Due to the complex nature of the terrain along with the variety of ways up and down, navigation can prove to be challenging on Scafell Pike, it is generally thought to be one the most difficult out of the mountains, in saying that in clear weather the path from Wasdale . we found very direct and navigated easy enough
Return the same way.
