ABOUT THE WALK
Large layby/ parking area on the road from Braithwaite to the Newlands Valley.
From the parking area we cross the road to join the path going to the left towards the Ghyll.
Follow this path round so the Ghyll is on your left. The path rises gently on a Stoney path, with Barrow in on your right.
We chose a path that goes up the side of Barrow through the heather, it was steep but got us up quickly.
From the top we turned right and followed the path to the highest point of Barrow which is a small raised section but has no trig point or cairn, great views from here.
You will see various paths to the surrounding summits from here but we stayed on the direct path and headed back and up Stile end, retracing our steps back to the main path before continuing to Outerside.
It was easy and enjoyable walking, with some boggy patches between the summits.
From Outerside we retraced our steps again to the main Pony track at the bottom which leads back to the car park.
You can extend your walk to include Causey Pike, making it a nice circular walk.
