Space for a few cars by Hodge close Quarry, we completed the walk to Holme fell and Ivy Crag and then went to explore Hodge close quarry making it approx 7.5 mile walks, but you can just walk up to Holme fell and explore the various crags on the summit, lots of rocks to climb on and great views over coniston. 

The climb up to Holme fell from its western side starts opposite Hodge Close Quarry, you will come to a small tarn and see Holme Fell behind the tarn, obvious path to follow to the summit.

Various cairns and crags on the summit which the kids enjoyed climbing on.

After the return to the car you can take a steep path down to the quarry, wouldn't recommend in rain as very slippy.
