The walk starts at Glenridding Beck bridge beside the village shops. Bear right to the one way system around the village green Turn left into Greenside Lane, signposted  and Helvellyn Youth Hostel. 

Follow the lane past the Travellers Rest Inn and turn right at the junction. 

Shortly after go left, the road climbs to, and goes passed a row of cottages.

Go over the cattle grid and the path turns right up the hill, it zigzags steeply to the summit and then levels out among the heather to the cairn.

Return the same way.
